Hi all,

Hugo (11 months old) these last 2 days have been giving off some very abnormal (for him) behaviour, here's a list of these that he's doing which is completely out of the ordinary...

> has a very sad look about him most of the time.
> just lying down all evening.
> going straight by the back door and lying there, this has never happened when we are present.
> when lying down I go by him to see what's wrong and he just looks away sadly/tired.
> sheems to shake now and then when the house is warm.
> just sat out in middle of the patio earlier on his own like if he was just chilling. (Again this is very strange as he's normally prefers to be in the house)
> very quiet.

He's still got his appetite and drinks normal and he still looks forward to his daily runs and walks.

To note, I gave him his drontal worming tablets yesterday morning, and back last Thursday night my smoke alarm batteries were running out which give off a beep every min or so, he sleeps right under the alarm (just outside my bedroom) and when the beeping started (around 3:30am) he was banging on my door, I think he got scared as he was shaking like a leaf so I let him sleep on the bed which it still took him around 15 mins to calm down.

All I know is these last 2 days he's been acting very strange and is not his usual hyper self, is it because of the smoke detector scare ? Is he feeling under the weather from the drontal or could he be growing up ?

Thought I'd never say this but I want my very very hyper pup back.

Don't worry, could be a mixture of everything and he is also maturing at a rapid rate now. Get some toys out, go for a romp and he'll be his mad self, believe me they never loose it! Xx

It could well be the Drontal making him feel a bit under the weather. It can affect some dogs like that.

I take it you've replaced the battery in the smoke alarm now?

Thanks for all of your replies.

@ Caryll, yes I removed it immediately and replace it the following day.

I'd give him another day or two & if you still think he's acting strange then pop him to the vets.

I doubt that you'll need to, though.

Sounds like he's feeling a bit under the weather. My boy was like that after worming, it's not uncommon for them to feel a bit crappy for a cpl of days.

My brothers staff gets terrified of the low battery warning beep on the smoke alarm, so he hides in the wardrobe Laughing
