Can anyone tell me what this means please. When Mia greets another dog her ears are pricked but her body is as stiff as a board, tail straight up in the air.

Standing stiffly, with pricked ears, is a sign of dominance in canines. They're trying to appear larger. You'll probably find that this is accompanied with staring. This isn't anything to worry about - a lot of dogs are dominant. Just make sure that play with other dogs is supervised. Smile

As Eleanor says, you only need to worry if the other dog starts to do the same thing! Then you could end up with a confrontation.

Some dogs dont like to be stared at so maybe try to break eye contact if you can like standing in front of her or distract her with a toy.

Moo does the exact same thing and her hackles come up, but once she meets them it all disappears into bum sniffing Smile

Tyke is the same sometimes, depends on what the other dog is and there behaviour with him. He met a puppy JR to day and tyke went into subbisive mode. I personal always keep him on a lead

It's a dominance thing. Tbh Logan does it with certain dogs. Normally doesn't create problems. Just keep an eye on it and see how the other dog is reacting Smile
