Rafferty ok!

I posted as a new member in January I was very worried about my 7.5 yr old Staffordshire Rafferty as he had a lump on is back which the vet thought was cancerous. He has had an op to remove two lumps on 6th Feb and we found out today they were both benign!! We r over the moon!!!

Thank you everyone, the vet is ever so pleased with his recovery so far, and we are over the moon the lumps are not cancerous!

Oh he has just come in from garden and must have caught two stitches, they r bleeding and my stomach is doing somersalts

Give the vet a quick call they will know what to do, dont panic.

Hi Kathy and all well wishers, Raff pulled his scar today opening it, Phoned emergency vet but believe it or not all the red flesh covered over again in about an hour! Vet said any bleeding to let him know but so far so good! Thanks again everyone, Raff is a legend!

Crikey, that's a bigger operation site than I was expecting, poor Raff

No wonder you were concerned (to put it mildly) when he pulled those stitches. I'm glad that all seems to be well now though. And the main thing is that lumps were not cancerous.

When are you going back to the vet?

Hi Lynda he goes back next Wednesday (20th) the stitches are self dissolving but Vet says will take them out before three weeks. He also had one taken out under his neck. It was soft, the back one was hard. The reason the scar is so big is because Vet took a lot of surrounding tissue to make sure, as he really thought it was cancer. Thanks

How is he coping in general after it? Is he walking, in good form etc?

I work there and I see quite a few Staffords around here, I bet I've saw Rafferty before

Just a wee update on Rafferty his stitches came out last week (on his back) and he is doing fantastic, full of beans! One side of the scar was itching and he bled it so I rubbed in e45 and now it is all healthy looking. I will post some photos of the scar later. Thanks again everyone
