Saturday's going to be big day.

At least for me and Debo. He's still in his cage when we out and as much as I like the comfort of it I don't think is fair for Debo. So the plan is to do the same staff as we do when going out - put staffed kong in his cage but instead of closing the door just leave them. And pop to the local shop(10mim max). We're gonna close stair cage as well. So he will have just one room for himself. I know it's going to be big deal for him. I did that last night at bed time. Put him in the cage, left the door open and went to bed. 5min later could hear him coming to the bedroom. He knows he can't jump to bed when not invited. So he was walking around the flat, cage ,bedroom, livingroom etc for 20min. Finally he came back to the bedroom and just sat there and looked at me " What shell I do?". I let him on bed. It was new thing for him.

He'll expect that all the time, now!

I hope so . He wasn't sure how to react not being locked in his cage for a night. I think I should set up video cam on Sat ,just to see what he's going to do.

I'd love to do that with Loki but all he does when we're in the room is pace the floor 24/7 and cause mischief. I think the cage is good for him because he has things to chew, but he also can stay out of trouble and be motivated to just relax and have a little nap. Still, I hope Debo reacts well to it

Haha. Don't think my OH likes the separation. Tara, for Debo the cage it's a safe place, that's why he wasn't sure what to do last night. I just want to show him that he can go there anx time and be out if he feels like.

yer we leave our two free in the house now and have been doing for months and it's alot nicer and they have yet to touch anything, they generally just go and sleep on our bed

We leave Rocky with the run of the flat when we go out. He just goes and sleeps on our bed too. The door to his crate is always open so he can come and go as he pleases.

That's what I want for Debo.Just hope he won't freak out and won't destroy the flat . We defo going to put video cam on. Not that I don't trust him......

Believe me I understand, after having my first, who was kept in the kitchen when we went out, and chewed up the floor, to trusting Moo in a brand new flat..............I was petrified the first time I left her for 10 mins! But she was fine Xx

That's the think Janey,we are moving to new place by the end of March and want Debo to get use to his freedom.

Romeo has free roam... because i have a studio apartment. he was a little distructive at first, but he hwas losing baby teeth at the time... now... he doesnt touch a thing he's not allowed to and i think he spends his time sitting in the window seal looking at the play ground behind my place.
if he has something intreting to do, some toys and such and a good romp before you go he should be fine. crates are great, when romeo has done wrong he hides in his, he has a material portable one because of the shows so its darkened on the sides to keep the sun off of him... so he has a nice little den. its about good exsperiances i think your well on the right track

We leave Suki loose as well. Hope it all goes well for you. It should be fine as long as you build the time up slowly

my two have the run of the house so far with rocky all he ever done was chew up a wicker chair i had in my bedroom kissy i have had 3 days she has had run of house have yet to leave her home on her own yet i just hope she is as good as rocky, hope all goes well
