Aggressive or not? What are your feelings? Empty Aggressive or not? What are your feelings?

Hi
The last staffie i had was a rescue, a lovely boy called Max. He was very loyal , friendly and fantastic with my then 2 year old daughter. His only drawback, OMG animals , he was a complete liability. We got him when he was five

We now have a lovely little pup called Diesel. We are very keen to socialise him with dogs etc Big Grin as it would be so nice not to have that worry again.
Is he likely to be agressive because he is a male or do you think like I do and he can be well socialised

There will of course always be the exceptions!
Any thought appreciated!

It really depends on what his genes dictate! If he's going to be da, then nothing you can do will stop it!

BUT. If you socialise him well, right from the start, then you'll have a good chance that he'll be ok for life. Some staffs are naturally dog aggressive, but many, many more are really friendly!

My son and I also got a lovely little pup 6 months ago. He is now 10 months old tomorrow and shows no sign of aggressiveness. He is the first male dog we have had and the first Staffie, and we have done our best to socialise him as much as possible, and so far his friendliness towards other dogs and people has been 100% (+ !)

Good luck - and don't forget that Staffs are (or were) called "nanny dogs".

Here is a link that will help you with socialization

https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t15166-puppy-socialisation

The more you work at it the better he will be. Suki is great with all people and animals but we make sure to work at it every day

I have a staff and american bulldog both male and both very very dog friendly.

It's down to socialising him and keeping it up

Can only speak from personal experience - but all the male staffies I've owned or fostered have been fine with other dogs.

Cali is touch and go with boy dogs, he was well socialized at an early age, but as his hormones kicked in we found some boy dogs he just didn't like, now we have to be careful as he will be cool with all girl dogs but if a boy dog seems to be challenging him he will try and have a go.
We are working with him on this and slowly but surely he is not feeling the need to stand up to the challenge with every boy he meets sometimes we wonder if we did anything wrong but i guess he is just a dominant dog.
All the dogs he has known since puppyhood he is super cool with its just new ones he finds it a little difficult to understand.
As everyone says they all have their own personality an Cali certainly does.
