Sleepy Tumour surgery...

Post by Rachel33 Wed Aug 08 2012, 22:03

Sad to report that Biscuit has had another tumour appear in the same place that the last melanoma was removed. She's a fighter and is 100% fine in herself, exercising as usual and eating well! She's booked in for her surgery next week, the last removal she had she was off her feet for almost 6 weeks as it just wouldn't heal and the stitches tore anytime that she moved in a certain way (it's in a really awkward place)

Is there anything that you guys would recommend that I could do to keep her occupied at home whilst she's recovering? We learnt pretty much every trick possible last time (she now waves, like the queen Laughing ) and played lots of hide the treat and gave all of her feeds in kongs etc, just would be lovely to get some more suggestions to spoil her and keep her happy after the op Smile Thanks!

Sounds like you've got most of the basics covered. We also use search techniques. We will have her sit and than hide a treat in a seperate room and have her find it.

Hope Biscuit's surgery goes well and that she makes a full and speedy recovery.

Aww no poor Biscuit Sad I hope the op goes well >Big Grin<

Maybe trying hand signal training, might be fun, you can't say anything but put something extremly interesting to Bis in her view, get her to wait, sit, lay down, without a word then get her to retrieve and bring it back drop, sit stay so on, but no words, not even a murmour! I was playing with Moo, had her ball on a cone, it tires them out and needn't be strenuous! Xx

You can also get food puzzle games for dogs - you hide the food in them & the dog has to work out how to move the pieces to get to the food.
