I don't know how to link this properly so I apologise. Article "Dog owner convicted of attack on policeman" on sky news (online). http://news.sky.com/story/969440/dog-owner-convicted-of-attack-on-policemen

The ignorance and prejudice in this article has made me so so angry I honestly don't know what to do with myself.
I think I'll sit on the sofa and cuddle my 2 "pitbulls" because apparently this term now includes our beloved babies.

i just watched the amatuer video and from what i saw i a 5ft 2 inch woman could hyave got hold of that dog and pinned it to the floor , as far as i am concerned they raided that mans house for whatever reason so i think that dog was probably just protecting his property , however i did not see the owner try and call the dog off or help the policeman, and my other rant is why video it instead of going to help . this is just one nail in the coffin i fear

and yes they need to get their facts right about breeds

You guys have a real old tough time with your "pitbulls", and it is so sad. We don't seem to have much prejudice toward either pitbulls or Staffords, so we are really lucky in that regard. Fair enough, there will always be some people who has to give their 2 cents worth, but we really don't have calls for bans etc.

I just wish that people would separate Staffords and pitbulls

This story is a tricky issue in the fact that the man who got raided was a very violent person e.g. gbh, abh, kidnapping & drugs the list prob goes on, anyway what I"m trying to say is if a dog is like its owner then in this case alone that dog is too unpredictable to be owned by a member of the public. I"m not saying that dog should be dead at all but after seeing the video anyone who could of been walking in that street could of been attack & thats a scary thought. I believe that dog was trained to attack people.
This attack is not down to bull breed dogs, this is a gangster with a weapon!!

i agree with you Thomas 2 but they way it was portrayed reinforce the bad vibe staffy's have already from the public which annoyed me , if you watch the footage to me it looks like everyone ran away and did not help with the situation , i on my own has managed to pull 2 staffords apart . exhausting it was and hard at my height so i am sure that five big men could have worked together in controlling this dog , in this instance i think the actions on the police were ill judged . who in their right mind would barge into someones house with a barking dog on the otherside of it and not be prepared for a dog attack

x2 agreed. I mean its not like they even called a dog warden/handler out, they just decided its a pitbull type dog, lets call out the fire arms squad & shoot it!
