chester is 8 months old now and has been housed trained from an early age but he has just started scenting things around the house ie my sons school bag the coffee table my patio door blind which seem to be a favourite and a few other things around my house any advise on how to stop him doing this? ive only caught him at it a couple of time and given him a firm no and put him outside but i dont think its because he needs to go as the back door is open most of the time anyway!

It's his age. Pure & simple. Just carry on doing what you're doing now & he'll learn. It's the hormones raging & telling him that he's the boss! Big Grin

That depends on the individual dog & how you react to it! Watch him like a hawk & as soon as you spot the body language (sniffing/rubbing his body against something) then step in with a firm "No!" If necessary, push him away from whatever he's sniffing at.

It shouldn't last long as long as you stay on top of it.

My boy Mayja once scent marked my hoover.
He was upstairs as per usual following me around as i clean. Had turned my back for a second and heard a trickle of water, turned and looked at the hoover, then at Mayja who had this " it wasn't me" look Surprised Growled a NOOOOOOO at him as he fled down the stairs out into the garden with me chasing him Laughing The little git rolling on the floor his not done it since Smile
