New member just saying hello

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say hello and say how lovely it is to be amongst fellow staffy lovers. I lost my staffy over christmas, which has left me heart broken. But, I am now begining to feel ready to love a new puppy.

After searching online I almost came un-stuck with a scam selling pups. A gentleman emailed me saying he had two blue 12 wk old puppies for sale for £270 (including delivery) but wanted money wired to him first! That's without me seeing the pup or telling him where I lived. I couldn't drive for that price to Glasgow from my address for that price, let alone sell a pup that he claimed was kc registered. My gut feeling told me not to continue and after some research online I came across a warning and suddenly realised I had a lucky escape. WARNING!

I hope with help and advice that i can find my new staffy.

Hi, thanks for the welcome.

I would really like a puppy, but intend to do lots of homework after my near miss. Any advice gratefully received.

Can't really advise on buying a pup as I will only rescue (you can get pups from shelters also), but you'll certainly find plenty of advice on here and lots of people to guide you

I have bought from a breeder and rescued so the best thing I can suggest is do your research and the right dog will find you and sometimes when you least expect it

Hi and welcome from us and Suki. I don't ever plan to compete, breed or show and do not care about color I simply want a healthy companion.

When I am chosing a dog I looking for the middle of the road one. By that I mean I want to see them interact with their littermates for about an hour. I don't want the bully or the one getting picked on. I don't want the first one to come to me or the one that hides in the corner but the one that is cautious but not overly so.

Then interact with the pup away from the parents and littermates and see how you get along.

I also do research on the breeder to make certain they are reputable and like my own vet to do a health check in addition to what the breeder has done.

I live on the south coast and am having difficulties locating a puppy. When i search on google all I seem to get is notice boards selling pups and they all seem to live to far away from me. If you have any links or advice i would be very grateful Lynne

there are lots of dog in resue centres or did you specifically want a puppy from a breeder

i was lucky when i decided get a staffy again the first one i came across lived around the corner, was fate. I also had the opportunity to drop by unannounced on different occasions and see both mum and dad and all the litter mates

Thanks for this info Lynne. I have now contacted a breeder from this info you gave me and am hoping to view pup that is expected to be born april 2nd.
