Crying not eating

Post by soniau Mon Feb 27 2012, 16:03

my dog jack 13 months has gone off his dog food he has had one lot of dog food in a week but will eat anything else, so we are having to give him sausages, which we have to feed by hand as he wont go near his bowl, but at the beginining of last week he had a bit of runny poo and it had some wood in it as he picks up sticks in the park so he must have swallowed some, i dont know what to do with him, as i cant get to eat his wet dog food or biscuits he cant eat sausages for ever he's eating chew stick and treats ok.

What food is he on?

I would stop with any * bits (especially sausage its very fatty). A dog won't let itself starve.

Have you tried adding warm water, or gravy mixed in. My guess is if you cut the treats and feed him a balenced diet he'll eat again Xx

He's playing you on a string! He knows that if he refuses his food you'll give him some tasty sausages!

If he was eating dog food before without a problem I'd put him back on it. Put it down, leave it for 15 minutes & if he doesn't eat it, take it up again until next feed time.

He won't let himself starve, and he'll start to eat again eventually!

Just watch the eating of sticks as shards may get stuck in the elementary canal and cause problems.
