No. I feed raw and Dempsey's teeth are pretty clean. I only used to clean them (an ordinary toothbrush & doggie toothpaste) when he was going to a show, just to make them sparkle a bit more!

When Moo was last at the vets they said she had a build up on her canin, ropes and chews only clean the back teeth. Gradually getting her used to a finger brush but also use my nail if she plays tuggsies, thats about the only time she'll let me near them!

Whats the difference between a clean and a surgical clean? Sounds like whitening for dogs!!! Xx

You could always give him things like chicken wings a couple of times a week to help keep his teeth clean Smile

I used to have my Bulldog done once a year or so. Suki is a huge chewer so no issues yet plus she is still very young. As long as there are no risks to having them put under I think it's good for their health.

Raw meaty bones make teeth and breath very nice! Helps the other end too.

never heard of a surgical teeth cleaning, infact I hadn't heard of cleaning dogs teeth until only a few years ago, Russell gets bones to chew nearly every day so I think he is safe.

being put under anaesthetic seems a bit risky to me to do just for a clean? I mean, I know its usually pretty straight forward but there's always risks. just my opinion, I wouldn't wanna do it unless it was something that really needed to be done.

but I suppose dental must be pretty important, I'll stick with bones for Russell I think Wink
