new puppy

We are going to look at a staffy x american bulldog tommorow. He is 12 weeks old andwe will meet both parents aswell. II'm a bit worried about it growing to look like a pitbull and veing confiscated. Also after advice on the breed and opinions of owners as we have childreb aged 2 and 6 and a 18 month old pure staffy. Thanks for any help

They make gorgeous crosses but i'll help from the Ambull side

You won't know until he's older whether he's took more of the staffy or ambull side, but they are very very different breeds.

Ambulls are a guardian breed, staffs are not. So they bark at EVERYTHING they are not quiet dogs in the house. They are a lot bigger then staffs, but as a cross they tend to max out a 30-35kg.

They are great with kids if brought up properly with them, and they need to be well socialised from a young age, they can be great with other dogs, i have 2 males one staffy and one ambull and they are brilliant together.

One big point i will say is that along with them being a guardian breed they have a breed trait that means they tend to be aloof with strangers, this isn't normally a problem but something to be aware of.

Oh before i forget, they are a million times stronger then a staffy, so bare that in mind when walking them

They are amazing breeds, and i always want to have an ambull in my house they are my heart breed

My boy's pal has a SBT/ABT and he is a bit calmer than a Staff so I assume that is the ABT trait

This one musn't conform   . someone from work has just got an Ambull. He is all white with a black ear so cute like a giant Lola

I have known of few ambull/staff crosses to be typed in kennels in England, not to say it doesn't happen, but they vary so much you can never be sure of what you're getting as a pup. They're generally much chunkier and more bull dog looking than the slightly more athletic breeds they mix to get a pit bull looking dog. My foster boy is a staff/labrador and he doesn't look type, though they are a common cross that gets condemned! Unfortunately you're not going to know until he's fully grown, I'd say don't let that stop you, but I do understand the scaremongering that goes on with this sort of thing! Just be responsible with him and stay out of trouble!

i have an american bulldogxstaffy and a staffy chester the ABX is definetly more crazy than my staffy he barks at everything and talks away to me driving me mad at times! his back legs are more kangaroo than dog though he can jump high fences with ease! and i cant even go to the loo without my shadow in tow! and he rubs in and out of my legs (a bit like a cat) which im told is a trait! i think he would defend me to the death where as willow would be gone with the wind. hes the most eccentric dog ive ever owned and i love him to bits
