Rivers neck..????

Hi

my son pointed out tonight that River has little scares either side of her neck just above where her now collar sits..there little puncture looking marks. and her fur has kinda grown in a circle around them.. im a bit concerned about them, this is obviously from her past..does anyone know what they might be? or its it something that i dont really need/nor want to know?

Not sure what they could be. May be from fighting with another dog or anything really. As long as they are not causing her any kind of problem then she will be fine. That's the downside of having a rescue dog you will never truly know what happend in her past! But saying that maybe that's a good thing!

sounds to me that they are little bite/scratch marks possibly as long as they arent bothering her and her collar doesnt rub to much and aggravate the area then Im sure she will be fine hun x

???????? the dogs coat has a like a ripple line or a swirl or 2 this is usually were the coat changes direction and is unique to the dog its sometimes ask for in identification on the passport ect . Could it be this maybe without pics its rather vague

they dont really have to be from a fight lemmy has loads of little marks now cos of lottie. he knows the art of gentle grabbing now she doesnt and he is marked to high heaven round the back of his ears so you may be thinking the worse but it could be innocent.

As above, really. It could just be her coat, or could be bite marks or even ringworm! Have they suddenlt appeared, or are they getting any bigger? Can you post some pics?

Agree could be a number of different things but hard to tell with nopic

thank you, its dark now and she is scared of the flash..so i will take some tomorrow day and post them, they are defo scars cos the skin is raised scar looking and at the same point either side of her neck. they dont bother her. as i said i will post a pic tomorrow.

i am in the uk about ihr away from london.. i dont know what a prong collar is but i was thinking of maybe a collar with spikes or electric or something as they are in exactly the same place either side of the neck.. am gonna try and take pics now. she wouldnt stay still earlier. and they are symmetrical. whats a prong collar doesnt sound pleasant pics to follow

i was asking someone today and they said sometimes horrible ppl use electric collars to controll them, river get scared before she barks starts shaking, and just after. in the two weeks we have had her she has only barked twice...and i made a fuss of her and gave her loads of cuddles it was horrible thats why i asked.. it could be my mind playing overtime... i would like to get her pervious owner and whack one round his neck the b******.. sorry but

memphis has the same lumps on his neck with fur swirls
and also the same high on his cheeks so i think it may be natural on some staffs

They can be the crown like we humans have, its nothing to worry about...

Can't really see the skin, but the fur looks like it is where the hair changes path. Tinkerbell has a few of these too.

Yes they all have these swirly patterns it makes them unique dont worry im sure thats what they are

A prong collar is one that has spikes on the inside which dig into the dog's neck when pulled. I hate them.

Very much agreed.

Those collars should be banned! Seems its ok to ban a breed but not the instrument of real pain which probably increases dog aggression.

OMW... that looks like something from the stone age.. how can anyuone put that on an animal???? thats gross....why aint they banned...i can see the pain just by looking at it, let alone have a dog wear one. dont even like normal choke chains... not that there normal either!
