Hi,

My name is Marie and I own two staffies - Tilly and Charlie. Tilly is red and white and 2 yrs 6 months. Charlie is white and brindle and 2 yrs 3 months. I have owned them since they were both 8 weeks. They are both adorable dogs and absolutely love people. I am having a few issues with Charlie at the moment with regards to his social skills with other dogs - he has become quite agressive towards them (apart from one other staffy - who he seems fine with). This only started to occur after I had him neuteured, before that he used to interact really well with other dogs. With advise from the vet i am trying to work on his aggression but its very slow, so any tips would be really helpful!

If it really is aggression and not just play keep in mind that they are an aggressive breed by nature and will not always get along with other dogs. Keep trying to socialize by all means but watch carefully for the warning signs and step in before an incident occurs.

When did you get him castrated? How soon after the operation did he start to react differently to other dogs? Is it all dogs, or just certain ones (ie entire males/big dogs/ certain colour dogs etc)?

welcome from me and Noa!

staffs are known to be arrogant looking dogs and often times, other dogs and humans misinterpret them. just like my Noa, she charges whenever she sees another dog. the dog usually defends itself by either barking or growling. well in reality, my Noa is just coming over to introduce the other dog by inviting it to smell her. she doesn't like getting barked at though.. i wouldn't know but we may be in the same situation..
