did or has anyone else got this problem; when i take lottie for a walk, i always let her of lead and she always stays near me but now and then when another dog goes by she just wants to play and dont come back when i call her and i end up having to put her on lead untill the other dogs gone, it gets annoying sometimes as i get worried some dogs my attack her? if theres any ways to train her better let me know cheers

Re: walking lottie
Practice your recall. Moo is always off lead and for example today we where playing quite happily and 3 dogs approached and would not leave her alone, the owner just stood there on the phone! She growled a bit, but Moo just tolerates it. I was quite annoyed, my dog was behaved and her 3 where certainly not.
I am a great believer that if a dog is off lead it is friendly, but by no means should your dog pester them. If a dog is onlead I will always pop mine back on.
As you said she may want to play, but they may not. Xx

Re: walking lottie
okay, i take treats out sometimes and if i think she is going to run up to another dog i try to call her and if she comes straight back i give her a treat, i think it jus takes time as she nearly 5 months and just wants to play,
no dog likes to be pestered as they get * of and turn on them and really dont wont my pup fighting :/

Re: walking lottie
At 5 months she is still a baby and learning. Keep doing what your doing with the treats, and make yourself the funnist possiable 'thing' to be around. She'll learn to stay with you, and she should learn that a sniff should suffice. Xx

Re: walking lottie
Have you tried using a long lead? That way she is free to roam and you still can get her back if she wants to run off.

Re: walking lottie
nope, i just didnt want to encourage her to pull on the lead as she wont be as free to roam on the short lead, will that effect it?

Re: walking lottie
By long lead is was speaking of about 20 meters or so. It helps in training recall sometimes since it gives them the freedom to roam but you are still able to pull them back to you if they try to run off after something or you get to a place you want more control over them. In that case you just wrap the excess around your arm and it turns ionto a short lead until you want to let it back out.
If they are pulling you can turn around and walk the other way or simply make them sit. It slows the walk down but they catch on after awhile. yours is still just a pup and will learn with consistency and patience.
