What have we done?
OMG I forgot how much hard work it is having a new puppy and its 10 times worse this time round as we already have Molly (16 Month old staffy bitch), who is great and very well behaved generally but just adds to the chaos of a new pup.
It not as bad as it may sound so far but god am tired (So is the other half), up in the night to let him have a toilet break. Up early and bed late so he dont have to long to go without being able to go toilet.
So sick of the word no and leave myself let alone Molly and Duke lol.
Training sit and down teaching him no and leave.
To make it worse he is snappy with molly and us as you would expect for such a young pup, but Molly wont do anything about it just keeps standing over him so then he started biting her nipples (Trys to suckle). She really needs to give him a few nips back to tell him no really but she wont. Just waits till she had enough then goes charging round the room like a loon jumping all over him thinking its play time.
Anyway things will get easier soon enough he has only been with us 4 days, or thats what I keep telling myself lol.
Back to work today after a long weekend to help him settle in an I am so tired.

Know the feeling, was up every 2-3 hours during the past 2 nights, am shattered, worse than having a newborn baby god love her, gave up the joke at 5.30am and stayed up and cleaned the living room and kitchen, while the kids slept on unawares of the caos Summer has brought lol

Re: What have we done?
SO cute! And yes, it can be a bit of a pain with a puppy - but all the stuff you tech him for the next year or two will make your whole life with him so much easier. Just remember in the future you have two great, well behaved dogs to enjoy! And he is super cute!
Re: What have we done?
Oh yeah anno, just carnt wait for the next month to pass and everything to settle down a little, forgot to also say just to add more into the mix we are moving house at the end of the month too. :O
Sooner we have some basic commands in place and he can hold his toilet needs longer the better.
I have another week off at the end of the month when there is the bank holiday so thats good but its also the week we plan on moving too, so thats gonna be chaos still am sure.
He is doing ok though toilet traing going well, he got the idea he should go toilet when we take him outside, just a few number 1 accidents, he has also got the command sit and down quite good already. Also learning to be less snappy quite well as he started off very snappy when giving treats when training.

Yeah that was my thoughts on it with Molly too, if she is prepared to submit to a 7 week old pup atleast we wont end up with a power struggle as he gets older and bigger.

Re: What have we done?
I can so relate to your post!!
But as I write this Jethro is on the sofa curled up next to me, and Winston is in his new bed playing with all his toys.. as happy as larry. 2 dogs is hard work but well worth it!! And Winston is picking up on all of Jethro's good habits which I am so glad of! Jethro is a good teacher for him.

Re: What have we done?
Yeah puppys can be abit of a pain In the bum, But there worth It, Its really the first 6 monthes, Getting the puppy training and used to different people and diffrent dogs and situations, But from about 6/18 monthes Is the dog teenage time, So still long way to go, But seeing as you have experience with dogs you should be ok, Once the 18 monthes are over you have gone past the puppy hood stage and teenage stage, And then Its all chilled out, Well most of the time lol, After all dogs will be dogs .
