Hi all.

New to owning a staff so had a couple of questions to start with.

Bella is 13 weeks adn I wanted to know the best tme to train and socialise, I was told 6 months but this seems very late to me?

Also I want to get her toys to play woith and chew, any recommendation?

My firend has a jack russell and they seem to get on, but Bella seems to go for the legs of the other dog, is this just puppy behaviour or is it aggressive?

I have a crate, can anone recommend best way to crate train her.

Any recomendationson food / diet.

Sorry if this has all be answered before.

All great links, I haven't crate trained myself and with regards to socialising, the sooner the better imo. Moo is on James Wellbeloved Kibble which suits her, and a lot of people here feed raw which I'd say is the best but doesn't suit everyone. Smile

Thanks for the feedback, one other thing she is a very leggy dog, can I assume that is normal?

They grow so differently so yes its normal, they usually grow up in the first year and out in the second. Just make sure you take lots of pics because they do develop so fast Smile

Years ago they used to tell you that you shouldn't start training until 6 months. Now, it's accepted that training starts from the day you get them home! Little things to start with - sit, down, stay, fetch, leave etc - plus lead training & the start of recall.

If there's a puppy training class near you it's always worthwhile going along to socialise get her used to doing things when there are distractions around.

I would urge you to start socializing as soon as possible with as many different breeds and ages that you can find. It's never too early to start training.

As soon as pup has had all neccesary vaccinations etc.... you can take her out to socialise with as many dogs, people etc... as possible and get her used to many different situations too. Also with training, i'd start that straight away too and you'll be surprised how quick they learn.

Training needs to be done straight away when you get or puppy at 8 weeks or whenever you get the puppy, I would also say enrol her Into puppy classes, If there Is any In your local area, That maybe friends or family have been to and that are good, Because theres alot of fakes around, Doing puppy classes on training etc, And there no good, My neighbour she has a dog, And It doesnt shut up barking, And the dog trainer been coming taking the dog away for training and brining It back, Really the owner should be present with training happening because, The dog trainer should train the owner to train the dog, So be careful but If Its recommended dog training classes for puppys Id snap It up, We enroled our puppy for puppy classes, So keep you guys updated how It goes, We had good reviews from the from people about the dog trainer, Plus my girlfriend knows the woman who does It so all good Smile lol , Good Luck and keep pictures coming.

Yeah forgot lol Make sure she has had both her jabs, Very Important, Because If you try taking her to puppy training classes, They will ask to see the paper work you get off the vets, When you get the jabs, Or If shes been done, The breeder you got the puppy off, Should of given you the jab paper work, No papers no puppy training classes, Unless Is a dodgy one that doesnt do things by the books, Once again good luck.
