got our new pup
ok been home about an hour now with new pup, at first Maddie wasn't interested, then put him on the floor Maddie keeps standing over him, had a sniff and walked away, put the pup outside for a wee he wandered around maddie had a wee then he did lol she just follows him and stands over him i keep saying be nice and fussing her,now pup is asleep. no growling yet a little raise in maddies hackles but nothing nasty. just think she's not sure what he is lol
do i just keep an eye on them and let maddie just follow him...... what have i done lol

You've got a new pup and posted without pics Wishing you all the best and that seems great behaviour, I know on here of zena (pup) learning off Blade and Skye (pup) learning of Vinnie! Exciting new chapter

Re: got our new pup
Congratulations on your new addition!.
i can relate to you 100%! lol .. when we got skye and added her to the house with vinnie i was always on here with my "is this ok?" .. "should vinnie be doing this" etc etc etc lol.
Vinnie stood over skye too dont worry! (its easy enough for me to say now lol) when skye first came vinnie let out a little grumble and some hair raised but then he had a good sniff and then our problem was he wouldnt leave her alone lol .. the next step of nerves for you to take on is the play fighting! lol .. i was always telling mom "THEYRE PLAYING" because it looks so rough but at the back of my mind i was like "must go on the forum and ask!" haha.
Skye is now 4months old and we had her at 8weeks and the pair of them get on beautifully the grey hairs they could of give me all seem worth it! haha, they do still play rough just watch it dont get too rough and escalate is all i would say i always kept my eye on them when together and NEVER left them alone lol but now i can leave them in the garden skye know's how to deal with her big bro lol.
Like Janey said skye learnt stuff from vinnie and its adorable seeing them learn from each other .. enjoy it

Re: got our new pup
Hi all first night over , think i got 3 hours sleep. Bailey is finding his feet and Maddie more unsure before she went to bed, hackles up and circling him sure this is normal but abit scary with how big Maddie is to the size of Bailey. When he nips her i just move him and say no but i know iv got to let Maddie tell him off so he learns his place but still very early days lol think his looking for his mam because when he nips Maddie its on her belly looking for milk i think, only time will tell if she gets used to him >

Re: got our new pup
As i said in another thread i think u should as much as possible just let them get on with it, obviously supervised and correct either dog if nessesery but try not to get to involved. If maddie isnt interested in him dont worry about it, just take it at thier own pace! x

We are having the same problem as you are. Last night Biggin actually has Pebbles head in his mouth. Luckily we were there. I don't think he would of hurt her but was giving a warning. She still nips at his belly, lips and ears.He has been very patient with her. We keep their toys separate though. Hope it works out.Ours is getting better in the kennel also.
Need to let her out about every 4 hours after bedtime. Normally midnight 4AM then 8AM then we are good to let her roam but let her outside frequently.
