Hello
by Bentley+Lexi Today at 8:36 am
Hi I am new here and would like to introduce my two 5 month old puppies Bentley & Lexi, they are brother and sister. I am hoping to get some advise on why Bentley wants to chew Lexi's face and body, it seems like playing but then I dont know if I should intervene or let one take charge? Please help with any advice.

Re: Hello
Hi and welcome from us and Suki.
I wouldn't be too concerened with the behavior it's how puppies interact and play with each other. This lets them how hard to play bite so unless you hear a yelping or overly aggressive behavior by one of the pups they will take care of themselves.
You could also start off with short 5-10 minute sessions and if you are uncomfortable seperate the dogs for 15 minutes or so and then let them play again.

Re: Hello
Sounds like they are just playing, presumably Bentley is the more bossy of the two and pushes his little sister around a bit. I would just keep an eye on them as she might get fed up with it and it could cause problems eventually. If she seems like shes had enough or if they are getting too rough just seperate them for a couple of minutes or distract them with something more constructive like playing fetch or a bit of training. I wouldn't seperate them for fifteen minutes, a couple of inutes is sufficient for them to calm down.
Have you had one of them castrated/spayed?

Re: Hello
I agree, sounds just like puppy play. Lexi will soon let Bentley know if he goes too far and is hurting her.

Me too! Lol! .. My 2 play rough all the time!, I stop it and make them calm down when they are getting overly excited when it can hurt 1 of them, they are both as bad as each other and will deffo tell. Each other if they're hurting one another
