What chews do you all give your dog for smelly breath?

I give mine bones but wouldn't for a pup who is teething.

Bad breath can come not only from the mouth but also further down the digestive system. As it's really unlikely that a puppy has gum disease, it might be worth running it past the vet to make sure there is nothing amiss in his stomach/gut.

and don't get tempted by the Dentastix etc - they contain so much sugar that it defeats the object!

You might want to try Whimzees - they're 100% pressed vegetables so won't damage teeth or sensitive tummies!

Raw carrots from fridge (or frozen works too)
Will help clean teeth if that’s a problem and soothe gums whilst teething.

He's just got over an infection, could this have anything to do with it?

It could well do, especially if the breath started at about the same time. Did he have antibiotics? One possibility is that they have upset his gut flora, in which case a course of probiotics might help.
