Just a question on underfloor heating and whether it's any good for dogs?

The in-laws have underfloor heating right throughout the house and although Chase finds it lovely and cosy I worry a little.

At night he sleeps in his crate which has a metal tray in the bottom with his bed on top.
He'll kick his bed out the way when the heating comes on and lounge on the metal tray.

I've checked (with my hand) and it doesn't get anywhere near hot, if anything I'm jealous of the warmth Laughing

Makes me worry though that it might affect his little body somehow.
I have however seen heated dog beds for sale so I don't know of I'm worrying for nothing?!

I have no experience (nor the luxury of) underfloor heating but from what you describe, I would have thought that the biggest issue would be that Chase is sleeping on a hard surface (even though it’s his choice) Rolling Eyes

That was the other worry.

We will be treating him to proper crate beds that he won't be able to kick aside (for the house and the car)

I wouldn't worry too much as long as he has access to water in case he gets a little too warm

Nifty is there any harm in dogs sleeping on hard surfaces as hank does the same and never thought anything of it?

well Nifty recently had a bout of lameness and I thought one of the contributing factors was that she was always sleeping on a hard surface (under her fleece rugs).

Since she’s had her various cushions and memory foam bed, she always spends her longer naps on memory foam and not a hint of lameness.

I also figured that Staffys don’t squat our sofas and beds for nothing Wink

I see, he destroys any type of bed we put down for him so blankets have been the best option as he still chews them but as there's a few he still has a bit of cushion but they are often all over the place when we come down in the morning. He often takes himself off the sofa when we are on it onto the floor and has a snooze so I don't think it causes him any bother.

Nifty is in her pen at night so does not have access to sofa nor human bed, even if she wanted to. The vet fleeces I have for her are not very cushioned and she doesn’t play with bedding too much.

Maybe it’s just because she’s a girlie princess staffy Laughing
