Puppy Trainning
Hi everyone
I picked up my first staffy puppy yesterday Izzy (Rebel's litter sister), I have waited 13 years to get my staffy pup and I am over the moon to have her at last.
I am looking for advice on when is best to start training her the basic commands such as stay, sit, come etc? Also any tips on how to achieve this successfully? I know they smart dogs and need some time to settle in but just wondered if i start straight away or give her some time?
Thanks in advance and sorry if i sound a right muppet lol
Cheers Steph

Re: Puppy Trainning
Hi ya Steph, welcome to the forum from Flo and me
There's no such thing as a daft question so keep on asking if you're unsure about anything, there's always someone that will give you an answer.
Start training now. To begin with keep the sessions short, just a few mins at a time so that Izzy doesn't get too tired and bored with the exercise. Food is probably the key to success so work out what she loves as a treat above any other treat and use that as a reward for whenever she does what it is you're asking of her, they are smart and do pick things up quickly
She's a little stunner BTW

Re: Puppy Trainning
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Okay I will start straight away. So far toilet training is going well (little devil had me up twice through the night but its better than accidents haha). She is a little fatty and will eat anything if she could get away with it (including the cats food ).
Thanks I am in absolute love with her & her eyes just make me melt...def going be hard to be stern with her when neccesary haha!

Try not to get frustrated when things aren't going to plan. We often think Gus has understood what we want or don't want him to do only for him to take a step back. It just takes time and patience. Oh and welcome to the forum.

Re: Puppy Trainning
I like how stubborn she is...she is full of character! Love every bit of her & only had her since Wednesday! She already showing how clever she is. She came into a house with 6 other dogs ( Cairn Terrier, Scotry & 4 chihuahuas...my parents dogs) and she has handled it so well! Proud as punch atm
