Puppy pads

What does everyone think about puppy pads, newspaper for a back up when you have to go out. Is it OK or just confusing things as you are saying toileting inside is OK sometimes. I plan to go in garden every hour but after my time off will need to work for 3 hours twice a week. Pup will need a pee in that time. My other job I take Saxon so puppy will come too

I don't see a problem using them in your circumstances Laura, I did the same thing when leaving my pups for an hour or two or overnight. It didn't seem to confuse my boys.

Puppy pads are fine to start of with if that is the road you want to go down,i did'nt use them but a lot of people do,just remember to keep moving them nearer to the door that leads out to the garden 

I think I may have to just for the times I'm at work. 3 hours would be too long for a small puppy to hold it. Like I said that's just twice a week so most days we can do frequent trips in the garden. I get the kids school holidays off which is great

Even if you didn't work you'd still face the same problem over night so don't worry or fret about it we all have things we have to do when we'd rather be looking after our babies.

That's true, we all have to go out sometimes. I took my jack Russell out thru the night until he started sleeping all night

I would reinforce the outdoor option from the get go but like you say, in the short term perhaps put the pads by the back door so that he knows where they are each time. Expect the odd mishap though, even some of our older dogs occasionally get caught short

I'm not going to expect full control till at least 6 months and really am not bothered by the odd accident. I'm not house-proud lol. Puppy days are short so I'm going to enjoy them & stock up on cleaner & cloths

I've waited along time to be in a good position for a puppy so pee and poo won't bother me haha. I've wanted a staff for years
