Sorry I can't help. Mine still wants to jump over visitors and he's 3 too. After a while he gets a chew and takes his excitement out on that. He taught himself that, so he knows he shouldn't do it, but just can't contain his joy at visitors!

Perseverance is the only way I think. Staffies are notoriously human oriented and don't like being ignored but if you can get everyone to take no notice of your girl until all 4 paws are firmly planted followed by praise and treats it should work. The key is that everyone has to act the same way.

i have had two staffy before. and this little lady is hard work.
but its just in doors. she is so well behaved off the lead out on a walk.
she just hyper indoors.

Answer in 3 words (it's a staffy) Wink .Our Tess is 8 months old now and is exactly the same as yours when a visitor arrives, she just goes OTT with excitement,I am still trying to calm her down a bit but it is hard work.
As for saying to my family when they call to ignore her it's an utter waste of time because they love it,and say don't be cruel dad she's a staffy. When it's just me and the wife at home she is good as gold.

Keep up the good work and hope the change of diet works better for you.Tess is my 7th staffy iv'e owned over the past 30 years apart from breeding,4 boys and 3 girls and I can honestly say Tess is the most lively one in that respect that we have ever owned. In my experience I think the girls always seem to be more in your face and demand a bit more attention than the boys.
I tried putting a lead on Tess when she goes really OTT,but found it didn't help very much,I found that telling her to calm down and putting her in her crate for a few mins then let her out telling her to keep calm really improved things.I am finding that she is improving after the initial excitement of a visitor but is still looking for attention from them, but that's the staffy, you won't change that, not that I would ever want to.
It's far better to have a dog that greets you, rather than one that growls and show their teeth at a visitor.

Nice to hear it Tamara, perhaps you are on a winner, let's hope so.In the past couple of days Tess has really improved after the initial staffy greeting and told to leave, perhaps we are both on a winner in that respect.
By the way I love your name Tamara, perhaps it's because i'm a Cornishman and our river Tamar.

Best of luck.
