Wrote to my MP (who is under secretary at DEFRA) recently about back street breeders and he has advised that ALL breeders (described as having responsibility for more than one litter a year) must be licensed by local authority. I presume this is correct and if so, could new buyers be advised to ask to see license ? And if not forthcoming, could they report to local authority ?

Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name.

Example
If your dog matches many of the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier, it may be a banned type.

Hi guys, I have a really nice, friendly blue staff called keisha, 16 weeks old. I walk her on the lead, but as i get 50 yards from home, i let her off 2 run back 2 earn some trust. Tonight me and my 8 year old son was walking back and let her off as usual and someone from there house took 3 pictures of us as i let her off the lead. Have I done anything wrong/where do i stand and secondly i dnt like people taking people photos of with my son in which he now worried soneone is going to take her away. Any replies apprciated

As long as there was no wrongdoing dnt see how you are doing anything wrong id be asking the person that took photos for the negatives or the sd card they didnt have your permission and have no right to take photos

i'm pretty sure if your walking your dog on a public road by law it must be kept on lead for its own safety and other road users,if you want to teach her recall get a long lead and if you have a open space ie a field near you go there to teach her,be much safer

I think technically any dog has to be on lead whilst on the public highway, however, if Keisha didn't cause an accident or incident then nothing will come of it even if you were reported.

I often let my girl off lead down my road but it's a dead end with virtually no traffic and she has very good recall. I certainly wouldn't advocate off lead whilst on a public road though.

It is a little odd that someone should take pictures though, maybe they thought Keisha was a little stunner if something

May i add that it was dark, raining and about 8 0clock at night. No one about on the road, it is a very closed off road at the end where i live. thanks for ur replies guys but it just makes you feel like you should not own a dog. She is soft as a brush and would not harm anyone because we bring her up nice, and i did go straight to the house because i was fuming but no answer. If they have a problem, at least talk 2 me instead of taking pics of my son. I just cant see the problem

Having had a dog run out in front of a car that I was travelling in, it really unnerves me seeing dogs walking off lead on a pavement, even on a quiet road. Any dog can get spooked or see a cat/squirrel etc and follow instinct, no matter how well trained they are. As well as the fact that it's against the law. I understand that last night it was dark/raining but it wouldn't have been every time she's been off lead, surely?

Completely disagree with them taking a photo of you and your child without permission, however.

firstly, all dogs must be on lead in a public place, so technically you were in the wrong

however, as far as I know, nobody is allowed to take random photos of a minor. if you can't speak to them, try writing a pokite letter asking tgem not to do it again, but make sure your pup is on lead in future.

NO BAD DOGS BAD OWNERS JUST POLITICIANS THAT DONT HAVE DOGS IT MAKE THESE CRAP RULES TO SUIT AND FILL THERE POCKETS
