Cycling Empty Cycling

Post by Lady Bella rose Thu Oct 20 2016, 22:32

Hi. Is it ok to have my dog follow me while I cycle. She is 14 months old and in great shape. Always walked twice a day. I just think she needs a bit more of a challenge and wondered if cycling with her would be OK. I've had her out already and she loves it. Just on short runs. Cheers for any reply.

Cycling with your Staffy is excellent exercise for the both of you, just bare in mind the needs of your little lady and start with short runs and build up.

I've found this link to one of out FAQ's https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t16916-how-to-cycle-with-your-dog most of the advice if pretty obvious but worth a quick read all the same Smile

personally, i'd wait till she's about 2 years old before any long bike rides, but short ones to get her used to it are a good idea. You can get bike attachments to clip her lead to - i wouldn't recommend no lead as you'll have very little 'instant' control if anything happens.
