Eating deer droppings

We have got deer visiting in our field at night, and they are leaving behind something that Duke thinks is his breakfast  we go for a run and play ball every morning in the field
I tried telling him to leave but he seems to go deaf, and carries on munching and by the time I get to him he has eaten it

What do I do.....keep him out of the field, let him eat the poo, or try a muzzle?
I don't know if deer poo is harmful, it's definitely deer poo as I have seen them before locally, we live near Chatsworth country estate where there are big herds of them.
Duke is the type of dog that always has his nose on the ground and eats all sorts of crap

dont you just love em lol,Sash loves to eat cats poo if she can,i would say just try and stop him if you can or walk else where until the deer have gone.

Awkward one and not something I've had to deal with fortunately but would agree with Stella above.

My guys are very jealous, they've not tasted deer poo! I gave up worrying about what they eat ages ago, except for rotting things. I don't know why treat manufacturers haven't come up with poo flavoured choc drops or something, I'm sure they'd work, well, a treat!

If Duke's eating masses of it, then maybe as Stella suggests go different routes for a while, or call him away with a treat or something.

Mistys favourite is goose poo, she gobbles it up like she's never been fed before. She always gets an upset tummy after eating it. I've tried everything to stop her but she's so quick to eat things off the ground. We work on the leave command in training class each week and she's a star but on a walk it's a different thing. She ate some chocolate the other day which gave me a heart attack. When I walk her I'm constantly scanning the floor to try to see any food before she does.

When I take her to the lakes I take other paths that the birds don't use so her gobbling abilities aren't put to use.

I feel a bit more relaxed about it now.
Duke is perfect in the house with his training, but get him outside and he gets deaf, he won't respond to treats or anything, he just does as he wants the little scamp so trying to distract him doesn't work, if he sees me coming towards him he just grabs a mouth full and runs off and scoffs it quick.

Nita loves horse poo, I think it's just one of those things. As long as it isn't a massive load of it then I wouldn't worry too much

have you tried passing the places the deer droppings are on a short lead ? I have no idea if any of thems harmful I am stumped for a change .

I think he has gone off the taste as he doesn't seem to bother with it anymore. I haven't seen any fresh droppings for a few days so perhaps he only likes it fresh
