New here and looking for advice

Hello, I'm Shawn from SE Texas. My family and recently lost our 12.5 year old Boxer who was dear to us. We have all taken it pretty rough but it's been extremely hard on my 4 year old little boy. My wife and I plan to get an new pet next spring, due to her being a teacher and she will be off for 3 months to help all of us adjust to having a new puppy and basic training, ect.

With this being said we have agreed that a Staffy will likely be a great addition to our family. We loved our Boxer, but really would like something a little smaller. I work in LAw Enforcement and in the event to a natural disaster such as hurricanes I have to stay, while my family evacuates. Therefore, a smaller dog makes a little better sence, eisier to travel with and so forth.

I am hoping that someone can direct me to a reputable breeder, hopefully in Texas or Lousiana. I am not above having a puppy shipped to us but would really rather to pick the puppy in person when the time comes. Also I hope to stay away from "puppy mills" and locate a breeder who pays close attention to health and temperament.

And advice would be appreciated and thanks in advance!!

Hi Shawn, sorry to read of your loss but pleased that you are considering a Staffy. The best place to start your search would be the AKC. There seems to be a few responsible breeders on there that quiet clearly care about the dogs they re-home. Try this link http://marketplace.akc.org/puppies/staffordshire-bull-terrier
