is my girl a cross?

Hi heres some pics of my girl...What are your thoughts on her bread? Is she cross etc? shes is 6 months now to me she seems to tall and skinny to be pure. First pic her at 6 weeks second is her now.

I think she's pure.Most people think of the typical short stocky build when it comes to staffys.Jett is a pure staffy and he's much skinnier and has reallly long legs.

Who nows? At that age she is far too young to even tell, and if she is crossed then, would you know? She is a stunner, and has a lot of growing to do. Whatever she is stunning Xx

Awww she is just adorable, you know during the stages of developement you do think that they will not turn out right its due to her age all of a sudden they shoot up in size but filling out takes a lot longer.
You should have an idea how she will turn out did you see her parents or have you got a official pedigree for her?

Hi yes she is like jett. I seen the mother and trusted the guy when he said the father is a staff as he was saying shes the double of her dad etc. He was meant to forward a pic of the dad but never. My friend has a 2 year old kc staff and already my girl is taller.

This is her at 3 months and then 6 months she has stretched alot in a short period of time.

She looks lovely to me....and as long as you love her then that's all that matters hey. My Roxy is the same...still quite lean, but as somebody pointed out to me they grow UP in the first year, and start to grow OUT after that ( filling out )

She looks gorgeous in all her pics. She'll develop and change heaps over the next year as well. Our youngest is taller than other staffs and the breed standard.
Like many say some are taller, some are stockier (like most humans ). As Lisa said "as long as you love her that's all that matters".

I agree with all of the above...and the bottom line is you love her.. she loves you.. that's all that matters !!

Aww she's gorgeous! .. its just a case of having to wait and see, some grow gangley some grow stockey .. My Boy is a gangley one but now starting to fill out so he dont look so tall and My girl is a chunky one! but she is only 15wks.

Breed standard is

"Size
Desirable height at withers 36-41 cms (14 to 16 ins), these heights being related to the weights. Weight: dogs: 13-17 kgs (28-38 lbs); bitches 11-15.4 kgs."

But give or take an inch as you can get staffs that are not exactly breed standard and still full staffy.

We found with molly she did not grow much more after that age anyway so carnt imagine yours getting much bigger, another inch maybe. They start to fill out more after the first 6 months.

Generally first yr is mainly height gain, then they fillout for another year, the say heads are still shaping up for a little longer even. But most of their height is done in the first 6-7 months I found with Molly. But all dogs grow at slightly different rates.

But as all the others have said it dont really matter anyway she is lovley.

Awwww he is fine puppy like the other say it is hard to tell untill they are fully grown, Mine is 6 months and someone said to me is that a long legged staff and i said well no both parents are short legged staffs and Bruno is growing and he is all out of portion but wait till he's 2 then have a look

If i was honest i would say she is not a pure the lengh/height say to me she is not also the size of the legs compared to her body, but thats not 100% because she isn't fully grown yet,

She is adorable!!It does look to me like she has some american staffy in her though.She is a bit lean and long like the amstaff.Not that it really matters I'm sure you love her either way.

there was only 2 regsitered american staffordshire terrier in the uk before the got banned, if she not a full staffy she could be cross with anything but with photos it hard to tell

Hi thanks for feedback...She is currently 18 inches or just under and 17.5 kg...Shes been the same height for a while now so i think thats how tall shes gonna be she is 7.5 months old now.

Yeah alls going great thanks with training and stuff....She listens to everything shes told and does it etc well except when she sees another dog that is! runs off its like i dont exist lol...She just loves other dogs and there owners but jumps up on ppl rolls over onto her back and kicks her legs etc and just wont calm down or listen to me....Shes just a puppy at the end of the day but i had 1 lady get onto me for it she made me feel like sum chav with my staffy but how else can i train her to behave off the lead other than letting her off and getting her to stay,come back etc. Some ppl

She is a bit bigger than the standard, but a lot of people seem to be breeding over the standard these days.

She looks about the same size as Bruno, think they are similar age, Bruno was born 31/12/10. Everyone says isn't he big for his age, sure he's not older, hasn't he got long legs which i reply he is still growing and come and look when he's 2

I had the same worry about him being crossbred but end of the day as long as you love her and she is healthy, it really doesnt matter. We were lucky enough to be able to ring the dad's owner who told us that he will not breed his staffy's with any other breed, he said we breed with staffy's only.

Tara looks a lovely girl and i am sure you will get alot of enjoyment out her, the same as i do with Bruno

I'm afraid the old lady having a guy at you was in the right, not about what she said but about why she said it.
A dog only has to intimidate people these days and you can get fines and dog asbo's and even get her taken off of you.
Get an extra long, 50m allowing her to roam call her once as she is coming to you use your command word like come.
if she doesn't listen give a little tug on the lead until she looks at you andr epeat by calling her plently of treats and toys you have to be more exciting than what she wants to do.

Thanks. I have some pics of the mum and dad and to be honest the dads a nice dog prob a full staff but the mum to me looks like a lab cross or something. But either way my dogs a cracker just a bit disappointed we were lied to by the owner who told us mum and dad were both full staffs.

Yeah i know i should have asked to see the parents before hand, but i tend to trust people enough to beleive what they are saying is true. I think maybe he thought she wouldnt turn out as big as the mum as the dads small and stocky, so would get away with saying the parents are full staffs.

Shes stunning, if Im completely honest (though at such a young age everything could change and there are no guarentees what she will look like!) I reckon she might have a little bit of boxer or rodesian ridgeback. Whatever she is shes lush, I love a dog with an athletic build and she looks like she can run!

Hi yeah i agree with you on the possibilty of a rodesian ridgeback being in there as sometimes there is visible markings in a certain light. Yeah shes very fast not as fast as she was though think shes slower down the heavier she gets. Heres a pic of the markings on her back its not a great pic its more visible and stands out sometimes.

That's not ridgeback markings - looks more like smut markings, the darker tipped hairs that a lot of red dogs have, especially some of the bull breeds. They also account for the darker mask on a lot of red dogs.

Don't know what she could be mixed with. She is certainly a cutie, though!

Georgeous looking dog, but deffinantly dosnt look full staffy too me not sure what she could be crossed with thou... What does it matter anyway as long as you love her and who wouldnt shes got an adorable face.

I didn't know they had a name! We've just been calling them her Red Stripe and Eddie Munster Batmask!

I didn't know till we got Dempsey, either. Then I thought it was just EBTs that had 'smut' markings, but it's actually a term used for all red dogs with the darker mask/tail/back stripe!

You learn somehing every day here. Tyson has smut markings on his back and a smut mask on his head. Glad I know what to call the black bits in him. Its almost like he has an overlay.

It's weird as well, that Violet had almost the exact same mask markings as Tyson, but now they have faded out a bit, so they're not as prominent. Are Tysons markings always the same shade?

That's exactly what it is. If you look closely you'll see that the hairs are red/fawn at the base & darker at the tips.
