Anything for flaky skin?
Hi. Wondering if you lovely lot could help, again!
So Bonnie is coming up to 6 months and I have noticed these last few days that she has what appears to be flaky skin/dandruff.
Went to the vets today for her monthly fleaing and worming so mentioned it to the vets, who told me about some oil capsules that you can buy. They aren't that cheap though so wondering if anyone had any other tips for me to try before I go down the oil capsules route?
Many Thanks

Re: Anything for flaky skin?
Misty came to us with terrible dandruff. The poor girl was covered in white flakes, she was being fed Bakers at her previous home so we changed her straightaway onto a better food and also got some no rinse shampoo from PAH and put that on her. Her flakes disappeared really quickly and have never come back.

Thankyou. She has a good food so don't think it's because of that. Will have a look for some shampoo and give that a whirl.
Thankyou

What food is she on (I have a feeling you've said before but I've forgotton)? Fish can be great for the coat, is adding some fish an option?

She is on Oscars.
I can definitely add fish to her diet - she is not fussy about food at all haha!

Olive oil is good to add to feed which should help with Dandruff. You might also want to add some coconut oil

Re: Anything for flaky skin?
coconut oil is really good. add half a teaspoon to her food (build it up very slowly of she might get an upset tum) and rub a little into the dry flaky areas. it's totally natural and it doesn't matter if she licks it as if won't do any harm.
it's a bit expensive, but a tiny amount goes a long way. make sure you get the cold pressed virgin coconut oil.

Re: Anything for flaky skin?
I give misty a coconut every week or so and she loves it. Def think that helps her skin too.
