Cecil and Goliath Empty Cecil and Goliath

Last weekend we took Cecil to the dog park for the second time. Again he seemed scared and unsure of everything. Cecil might sniff but never really plays with the other dogs. He starts to raise his hair and tuck in his tail. Since he seemed to feel so uncomfortable we decided to leave.
In that moment my hubby stopped me. He said let’s see what Cecil does when what looked like a big hybrid Husky comes to sniff him.

Well this big guy was so rude and tried to mount poor Cecil! Cecil was in shock that this big dog tried to do this to him and he actually started to snap at air to warn him off!
I was about to put Cecil back on his lead when I could actually feel his confidents build up from this whole situation! It’s like he felt safe that the Husky understood that he did not like what he was doing to him and that he stopped when he gave him that warning!

It just amazed me how Cecil changed his attitude. For 30min these two played and gave each other kisses. For the first time I actually saw Cecil enjoy running outside from home haha
It turns out the Husky was still a puppy himself. Only 10 months old. But boy was he a big one! I’ll try to post some pictures!

Wow that's a big husky Surprised I'm not surprised Cecil didn't appreciate being mounted by him. At least now he can stand his ground & has a new buddy to play with Big Grin

It sounds like you did exactly the right thing. I'm a huge believer in letting them get on with it more than our parental feelings tell us to.

Here's to more play time!
