When can pups go through the night?
Hi -
So Betty is 10 weeks old and is crated at night. She took to her crate very well and now sleeps in it during the day with the door open (she takes herself off for a kip... sweet!)
We take her out for a wee at 9.30-10pm and then settle her into her crate for the night. I have been getting up at 3am for a toilet break and then she goes back in until 6am.
She has never woken up crying to be let out, so my question is: at this age, could she go all night without a break?
Thanks for any advice/ insights?

Marley always held himself through the night, never cried to go out, she is still young but if she's not crying to go toilet maybe you could leave her see if she holds it to the morning? Sorry not much help you'll prob get better advice when others see it glad she likes her crate marleys exactly the same with his makes it easier with little children running around doesn't it, my daughter never lets him sleep unless he's in there

Cecil is almost 15 weeks old and he has been sleeping through the night for the past 3 weeks. I wish he liked his crate more..he starts to run when he knows he has to go in it

Aw bless have you tried leaving him for a few mins in it then returning? Gradually building the time you leave him in it? Marley prefers a cover over his, that might help settle him also a nice tasty treat

They typically don't devolp full control of their bladders until 6 months so it's a risk. Suki was okay at about 4 months and they are all different

Yes, Maya is 4 months old now and after being let out at around midnight, she can sleep straight through for 8 hours at least. I think the only way you will know is just give it a try. Good Luck !

Why are you crating him, especially when he hates it?

It's not fear toward the crate it's more of a "I rather run around and chew on things"
So far I really have only made positive experiences with crate training. It's a XXL crate size that I kept when Henry my Labradoodle was a puppy. I just want everyone to be safe when I am not home.
