Mia has just recently been scratching at her neck and i have seen a dry looking patch where also it looks like her hair has gone bald so its just bare skin, would you take her to vets?

It's not where her collar/harness goes, is it?

Could be her harness but i don't think it's her collar as she's out grown her collar so she's not been wearing 1 for a few days,it's a patch on 1 side of her lower neck not really where her collar sits.

Keep an eye on it and the harness. If it doesn't seem to be that, maybe a quick check by the vet to make sure.

Hmm... A mite that's common to staffy's isn't something I've heard of before !. First off rule out any collar/harness rubbing but then ask the vet for a scrape if the bald patch doesn't clear.

You might then be offered all sorts of remedies like a course of injections but look at feed before you go down that route. We've managed our girls itchiness by changing diet and seen a massive improvement even though we were offered expensive treatments.

Little Mia been vets this morning has her scratching as got worse and she's getting more bald under her legs and on her stomach, vet's said we need to get her to have her skin scraped so they can do tests to rule out any mites, but before she goes to have that done the vet said we can give her half a piriton allergy tablet a day to try stop the itching, my girlfriend takes a 'cheaper asda' allergy tablet would this be ok?

Was it demodex that he mentioned? That can be quite common in Staffies - puppies in particular. I would stick with piriton and not veer off to any other brands. Hopefully they'll get a result from her scrapes and begin treatment. My girl had a different kind of mange - sarcoptic a few years back and was SO uncomfortable bless her. Demodex is treatable though, just keep her comfortable in the mean time.

Yeah think it was demodex she mentioned, said she may have been born with it. Just hope the piriton will stop her scratching the poor bugger

Another update on Mia, she's been to the vet's yesterday and had skin scrapes done but the vet found no mites, he's give us some antibiotics & told us to carry on giving her piriton & we got go back next week, just want her to get back to normal now as can see it's getting her down now, quick question now, would i be able put some cream on her sore patches, maybe sudacrem or savlon?
