First bad experience
So I was taking howie out for his walk this morning and as usual he was off the lead doing great, we turnt the corner and a man was walking towards us, I can see howie getting a little excited so I keep calling him back and he's listening really well. As the bloke gets within a few feet howie decides he wants to say hello, now he doesn't jump up at him he unfortunately got under the blokes back leg a little but then left him alone. Before I could apologise or anything he said "get that f*****g dog on a lead, he should be on a f*****g lead!!" To which I replied with some choice words and politely told him to be on his way. He obviously wasn't a dog person and I know it was kind of my fault and people don't like dogs coming up to them but he wasn't being vicious he just wanted to say hello. It left me so angry how this man acted!

Have you thought about a long lead? It will give him some freedom and let you still have control.

Re: First bad experience
we do have an extendable one but he does walk very well without a lead on, he just gets a little excited around new people, maybe ill start using it again untill he learns not to run to them

Unfortunately not all people are doggy people, don't let it annoy you, if anything he's missed out on a little staffy love so more fool him!

Re: First bad experience
If you say his recall is pretty good and you're not keen to use a lead (hopefully only in enclosed areas) why not try calling him to you and getting him to sit and stay by you until the person passes or is ok with him saying hello? Would be a great thing for him to learn
