So confused really do not know what to do with Lexi
I just joined the forum today mainly because i am in a bit of a dilema.
I just got Lexi a few weeks back and she is just 7months old. Originally we did like the idea of having one litter of puppies with her from my Male Diesel.
Reason for this is we have a lot of close friends and family that have all said that they would just love to have a puppy from Diesel and we too like the idea of having some Grandchildren.
The idea sounds great but at the same time we do not want this litter at the detriment of Lexi's health and overall outlook to life. As we would spay as soon as we could after the litter.
Basically the bottom line is- Is to worth all the effort to give her a litter and please our friends and family with a great dog. Or should we rather leave it to the professional breeders and tell them if they really want a Staffy so desperately they should go and import one like we did. How badly do you think having the one litter will affect our female in the future. As we are scared that we end up with a grumpy fat little pig hehe.
Please note there are no Staffy puppies available locally in the country therefore if a person wants one they would have to import from South Africa like we have done.

Breeding is a difficult process and takes allot of knowledge and work to complete successfully. I would leave it to the people with the experience and expertise.

thanks everyone for the reply. Now the question should i get her spayed ASAP or let her have a cycle first. Does it really matter?

Yep, leave it to the pros. And you should let her have at least one season before spaying.

My vet advised me to wait my Lexi is 9months and hasn't had her 1st yet. A lot of people say it doesn't matter IMO I would wait as she is still maturing in that department x

I would wait for at least one season to let her fully devolp and mature. Getting her spayed too early can cause urinary tract problems down the road.

Re: So confused really do not know what to do with Lexi
Thanks everyone for he replies. Makes me feel a lot more comfortable. Gonna buy her a pair of those sanitary pants and get the garage made up for her confinement. Our male will go stay at my brothers for the time. During the day whislt we at work she can stay in the garage and get let out for controlled walks by the maid a couple of times. Then when I get home she can come into the house and and spend the night with the family.
