Raw feeding puppy (k9 natural)
Hello everyone, we have had our puppy Maddie for nearly 2 weeks now she settled in really well and things have gone smoothly, we are feeding her a raw diet (k9 natural) she seems to love it and I have only heard good things about it, her poops are hard and don’t smell at all and she is really healthy. I was told I should feed her kibble as well (orijen) but when I did some research I discovered that kibble takes a lot longer to digest than raw food so its not a good idea. Am I best to just keep her on the raw diet and give her treats/toys that are good for her teeth? Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Re: Raw feeding puppy (k9 natural)
I don't know what the K9 Natural food is like, but I feed only raw and the boney bits we feed Bane help to keep his teeth clean. He also has chewy toys like a nyla bone and antler which help too
You are correct about the raw and kibble not mixing well. If you do want to feed both, you are best to feed raw in the morning and then kibble at night so that the kibble has the longest time possible to digest.

Re: Raw feeding puppy (k9 natural)
K9 natural is 100% natural raw food, I am feedings her the lamb one, it has lamb meat, lamb bone, blood, lamb green tripe, liver, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, spinach, cabbage, pear, apple, lamb heart & kidneys, eggs, and green lipped mussel. I might consider feeding her kibble at night so it has longer to digest. Do you think I should introduce it slowly and add it to her raw meal at night or just feed only kibble at night? Has anybody fed orijen before? Thanks for your reply

Re: Raw feeding puppy (k9 natural)
I personally wouldn't feed the two together.
If you did want to start introducing it though, you would have to just give her raw in the morning and then kibble at night. Don't try to mix the two at a single meal time.
If you want to introduce it slowly, give her kibble for dinner one night, then feed just raw for a couple of days to make sure everything is ok, then try another dinner of kibble and cut down the in-between days until she has raw for breakfast and kibble for dinner everyday. Just don't mix them or she could get an upset tummy
I think a few people feed Orijen, maybe they will pop by soon!
