Naughty Koda
Hi everyone. Looking for some advice please. Koda has just turned 1 and has a fascination with eating our BBQ (specifically the knobs and the gas line). He has destroyed the garden and all plants of course but we accept they were going to go, however the BBQ is brand new and very expensive and we really need to do something to prevent him chewing the knobs off (thankfully the gas line on this one goes inside so he can't access it) - we just bought this one as he destroyed the last one recently! The facts are; he is not neutered, he is walked morning & night (45 mins each time), left during the day alone while we're at work in a reasonable size yard (we are gone approx. 8 hours a day), left with toys & treats (rotated in an attempt to maintain stimulation), on a diet of kibble with tuna/salmon morning & night and treats in between (steak, eggs, cheese, toast, ice blocks, peanut butter etc.) and does not moan while we are out so I am guessing it's more boredom than separation anxiety. My OH is not open to the idea of a daily dog walker to get an extra walk in during the day, and we do not have family/friends nearby (we live in a remote estate). Whilst I welcome & am searching for advice please do not lecture me about the fact he is left home alone while we are working, it is a fact, can not be changed for now so it will continue. Thank you for reading such a long post also Oops sorry I forgot to say, it is causing issues at home as my OH is constantly yelling at him for it and gets super angry about it and we really need to get it sorted out A-SAP. Thanks.

Hi Bek, is there any way of fencing off the BBQ area? or even a removable fence type structure that is easy to surround the BBQ when not in use & easily moved when you want to use the BBQ area.

Re: Naughty Koda
Hi Dav, it's on the grass against the side of the house (on a paved area), I guess in theory yes BUT he would either knock that down when we're not there or it would become a hassle to move (we BBQ approx. 5 days a week). So today I'm thinking I could get a bit of MDF board and put that against the front of the BBQ then put the cover over it (easy) and he wouldn't be able to chew the knobs, yes bit of a pain but could be a cheap easy fix ?? Have to take the cover off every time we cook so just move it to the side each time. Thoughts ?

Re: Naughty Koda
Yeah i reckon that would work, especially with the board underneath the cover. & Samba says to Koda not to chew/destroy a device that produces such succulent juicy food like steaks, snags etc... Hope you find a solution soon Bek.

Re: Naughty Koda
Is there any way the bbq can go into a shed, perhaps a metal cover?. Perhaps u could get a low noise senser to active if the dog
Goes near the bbq.
Goes near the bbq.

Re: Naughty Koda
Do the knobs on the BBQ come off? if so could you take them off and only put them on when you need them assuming thats the only bit of the BBQ thatKoda is going to destroy.
Cheers

Re: Naughty Koda
They do but that would do my head in needing to put them on each time to BBQ. An option tho. Thanks
