Is it Lazyness?
Since we had Milo he has never gone outside in the morning on his own accord to go toilet. He stays in his basket on the landing upstairs and won't budge.
I get up at 7.15am to let the chickens out into their run & always like to go back to bed with a cuppa so it'd be nice to have Milo toilet then I won't have to get up again til about 9am. At first I literally had to put his lead on and 'drag' him down the stairs and down the garden til he'd been, then after a few weeks I tried slipping a length of old lace (I know its sad but funny) thro his collar and he'd walk down with me that way - eventually I could just place the lace on his neck and he'd grab it & hold it in his teeth and off he'd go without me holding the end. Without all of this palaver he won't go out.
Husband says leave him & he's bound to want to go out but you can bet your bottom dollar as soon as I get back into bed all nice and cozy he'll start wanting to go out. Should I do this and see what happens maybe?
He goes for a walk before bed but still does the odd poop in the middle of the night in the house which is odd too. I wish I could understand what's going on in their minds a bit more.
(He is a mega pooper too - maybe 4-6 times in a day !!)

Biscuit doesn't like to go first thing either, she usually waits til after he breakfast and then does both in the garden, and then lots of wees on her walk. I wouldn't bother dragging him.. Do you reward when he does go? Maybe make it into a game - call him downstairs with you using treat rewards when he gets to the bottom, and then praise like a loon when he's been to the toilet (try training a toilet command too, to encourage him to go).
Really though, providing he doesn't mess in the house, if he can hold it for that long there's no use forcing him to go out if he doesn't want to. Does sound like he's pooping an awful lot?!

Re: Is it Lazyness?
Haha - yeah maybe a bit of both as I like to go back to bed - but no mainly him in a jokey way - he just rolls onto his back in his big comfy basket and does not want to get up. He's always been a big pooper since we had him from the foster people - he'll do a poo first thing, when I get up about an hours later he'll do another one. Then when he has his walk with OH he'll (not always) go again - then in afternoon on lawn -right up til bedtime. Always pooing. And of course in middle of night if he has too
He started on Arden Grange dry kibble then onto wet (Butchers) which he loves and has made his poos more solid. He had awful runs and soft poos at first - ugh what a subject.

Lol!! You get used to the poo talk after a while! Butchers isn't the best quality so he's probably passing most of what he's consuming, rather than retaining much of the "good stuff." May also just have a fast metabolism. Does he struggle to gain weight?

The vet doesn't think so lol and is always telling me 'he's fine now but keep an eye on it' everytime. He's gaining weight steadily - as I say he has always been a great pooer, if anything since the butchers it's even less. Maybe tha'ts cos its now firmer.
