P***ed Off.
So we recently went to Bali for 10 nights, which was awesome.
However due to our parents ages, and how much work a 6 Month Old Staff Pup can be, we elected to put Ruby in a "Dog Hotel".
Upon delivering her my husband gave two emergency contact numbers and instructions to contact them should anything at all happen to our much loved pet during her stay.
Imagine now collecting your much loved dog to find her with an injured leg, and no pain relief. They said it had happened two days ago but who really knows? And why would they not call our contacts who would gladly of taken her to the vet?
To add insult to injury, she and her bedding smelt like she had been sleeping in her own excrement for the entire time!
We really were speechless.
We took her to the vet immediately who suspects a cruciate ligament injury and advised it was very painful and very swollen. The vet gave a course of anti-inflammatories and instructions to take her back for ex rays if her lameness doesn't improve.
So peeved right now. Needed to vent!!!

Oh poor Ruby hope she feels better soon I would also have serious words with the kennel & drop into the conversation how their trade heavily depends on word of mouth

Re: P***ed Off.
I would be fuming too. It sounds to me like they have been negligent in a couple of ways, not least for the fact that they did nothing about the injury !.
I would certainly complain and tell them that I wanted a full refund and the vet costs covered too. I hope Ruby recovers quickly.

Re: P***ed Off.
Publicise your story locally as much as possible and sue them for the vet's bills and any related costs. That's what I'd do, anyway.

Re: P***ed Off.
I would be fuming also! Contact the kennels and inform them of what the vet has said, and any fees incurred and don't use them again!

Re: P***ed Off.
Wow how awful! Everyone already said, but complain in writing, also would the vet write a letter officially noting her injury and the date you took her (i.e. immediately you picked her up)! Let us knkow how you get on.
Hope she heals quickly.

Re: P***ed Off.
What a disgrace I would certainly put something in writing to the owner manager, also see if they are a member of any industry association and contact them.
Hope Rubys feeling better now she is home with you.
Cheers

Re: P***ed Off.
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the well wishes. Ruby is doing well, she isn't favouring it any where near as much after five days on the meds. She is difficult to keep quiet and keeps bringing her toys to us for tugs and throws which we are trying hard to ignore.
I did send them this email the day after collecting her:
Unfortunately due to our experience we will not be recommending North Mandurah Pet Hotel to any friends or family in the near future.
Upon collection of Ruby we were lost for words.
While we understand accidents do happen, the fact that you neglected to call one of two emergency contact numbers left with you, both of whom would of been more than happy to seek veterinary attention for her on our behalf is frankly bewildering. Leaving our much loved pet without assistance for two days with what the vet suspects is a very painful cruciate ligament injury is beyond comprehension and certainly not something we would think any professional animal handler would feel comfortable doing. We also believe if it had been your dog, would a reasonable person think this ok? Definitely not.
To add insult to injury when we collected her she smelt like she had been sleeping in her own excrement for the entire time, we had to bath her twice to get the stench off her.
Very disappointing and in our opinion entirely unprofessional.
Regards
Didn't get any reply after four days now, so am thinking of putting it as a review on the internet. Or calling the RSPCA in a week or so to do a "random" check of the premises!
Haha.
I'm not going to hold my breath on any vet bills.

Re: P***ed Off.
This is diabolical - they should be put out of business. I wonder how many other dog owners have had problems like this but unsure about complaining.
I'm glad to hear Ruby's feeling a bit better. Let us know the outcome (if any) from the kennels
