Re: Ace
Poor Ace
Roxy had kennel cough a few weeks back now ( and she was fully vaccinated against it ) They can still get kennel cough, even when vaccinated. It's a bit like when get flu jabs.....it only covers certain strains of the virus.
When I took Roxy to the Vets, he gave her a jab and then antibiotics to bring home and have twice daily. She also needed to be confined away from other dogs as it is contagious, so no walks etc.... until the cough had fully disappeared. The good thing was that she was still her bright, bubbly energitic self......it was simply the cough that was the issue.
Please let us know how you get on at the vet.....and give Ace a big cuddle for me ><

Re: Ace
Theres not much you can do apart from try to stop the discomfort, I give my dogs a little bit of childs benelyn, it seems to stop the coughing and encourage production or phlem (gets the infection off their chest). I also keep them warm, rested and give them vitamins daily til they get better. It usually takes about 4 - 5 days.
You can get a vaccine against some strains of kennel cough (drops which go up the nose), but like coughs and colds in humans there are so many different strains it is hard to prevent!
