hi guys at what age can you tell what color your pup is going to be and can the pup start 1 color then change

ps i dont meen from black to white lol just can a pup develop in to a brindle from brown or dark brown to black for example

There was a thread the other day about this think its called "not black for long" or something.
Yes it can happen and it did to my Zero I bought a black & white puppy I now have a chocolatey brindle & white boy Laughing

James Milly was Blue but now she is blue/brindle she started changing from about 4 months and she is 9 months now some days she looks really blue other days she looks blue /brindle I am not sure when their final colour is apparent.

thanks for your help guys from what im reading dont look like there are any staffs with out brindle lol every where i read is brindle

I was told by Bandit's breeder that all 'black' dogs either have a little brindling or at least carry the brindle gene. So a black pup may turn out to be black brindle, just as Bandit did. There were times he's look black, but then the sun would shine on his coat & you'd see beautiful mahogany stripes here & there.

A brown dog, however, won't turn black. It may, again, get some brindling on it. A red won't develop brindling, athough it might have 'smut' markings such as a darker mask.

Ohh yes they can change colour my black boy is turning brindle he is 18 months. As caryll says when the sun shines on them you cant half see the different colours coming out. The thread Nikki is talking about is called 'Wont be black for long' I think its about 2/3 pages in.

Not mine he is a total colour black but probably carries the gene as he has produced brindle pups along with a female of course Smile
