dominance....
to be completely honest there is SOOO much conflicting advice out there it is so confusing..
my friend looked after loki while I took eli to the drs, he was playing with her staff, and she said that loki was being dominant, and he was starting the playing and then when she played back, loki would run to my friend because the other dog would get told off and then he would jump on the other dog when she had calmed down......when I turned up he also got funny when the other dog was lying down by my side and was snapping at her face......I dont want him to become other statistic......I love him so much, but hes snapping at eli and growling if eli is being too much....
I know I seem like someone that doesnt have a clue, I just want to make sure hes safe, and he will never be just another one of 'those dogs'.

Re: dominance....
At that age it can not be dominance. He is still learning how to interact and bite inhibition. Just keep socializing and learn to read body language. Also first introductions are best done on neutral ground. Here is a link that should help.

Re: dominance....
Don't worry about looking stupid, ask questions if you aren't sure, after all that's what's so great about this forum (and the Staff )
I've had 2 Staffs and still learn new things, I don't think you ever stop learning really.

Re: dominance....
You'll just have to be a little imaginitive with the Pen to stop him winning that one. It's early days so he will try his luck at every turn, you've just got to be one step ahead of him

Re: dominance....
Doubtful dominance, just keep at the firm no and ignore, always treat when he has been good. Vin still tries his luck even now x

Re: dominance....
he was really naughty earlier, my son was to blame, hes been a bit rough with loki and I think hes had enough, he was trying to give him a kiss goodnight and loki wasnt having any of it and really growled and barked at eli, I told him no and put him in the kitchen.....he then afterwards came over to me with his head down and sat by me...made me feel really guilty...my son is only 4, so its getting him to listen at the moment!! he starts school in septemeber.
