Mad Naughtiness and 'NO'

Post by fay_elizabeth Tue Apr 22 2014, 11:59

Do you ever feel like you might have the naughtiest puppy in the world?

I swear Pru does things just to test my patience, I find myself getting really worked up and stressed sometimes. I think because before her I had a lovely soppy adult dog who was always very well behaved. I feel like I'm constantly scolding her and saying "NO" about 1000 times a day.

She is so full of energy and seems hell bent on destruction / cat chasing / cushion ripping / dragging mud in from outside.

Is it just me, or is having a puppy HARD WORK?

Absolutely not you hun, they are demons - thank God they're so cute!  Yours is totally gorgeous btw  Love Struck

I had the same experience as you. My darling 9-year old softie died very unexpectedly in February and I couldn't resist taking the plunge again to help fill the huge void he left. Clearly I had forgotten what puppy-hood is like!  Mine gets this crazy eye-rolling tooth-baring look when he's on the rampage and like you say seems to be deliberately p**-ing me off - started calling him the Tasmanian devil!

Ah you don't know how relieved I am to hear that I am not the only one!

I put Pru in her crate and went for a little walk this morning to shake off my stressy mood, worked wonders! I also picked up a stag bar which is currently keeping her entertained Smile yay!

I try not to say 'no' too much but use other phrases instead and save no for really naughty or dangerous behaviour  Smile

i Totally Agree, At The Moment Poppy Is constantly going For My Hands And face Whenever She Has The Chance, I Want her To Get Her Out the Habit But She Just Won't snap Out Of It I Have Tried Dozens of Techniques but She Seems Like such An Angry Dog.

She Starts snarling At Me When playing Tug But Looks Like She Takes It To Serious As She Jumps And Nips Right near My Face.

Any Advice For An Owner Who Has A Right Little Shit Atm LOL

Wilbert has so much energy, wants to bite, snap, and play with everything. Regardless of how many times I say no.

I just have to take a deep breath and remember that he is only 8 weeks old, he is a baby and a just wants to have fun.

The general jist on this forum is just to have patience and stick with it. If Wilbert gets to hyper active I just put him in his crate with his toys and leave him alone. It works Smile

I cannot wait until I can take him for walks lol

I agree with Saz Smile I only use no for really bad behaviour! I use a variation of commands and reprimands and try to redirect her behaviour rather than just stop it as much as possible Smile
