I live in a council house and have one dog already. I had to get a letter to say I can have a dog which last time was fine. but now im getting a staffy they want to come and do a home inspection to check I can have a dog. has anyone ever come across this. they holding up us having the puppy on reserve at dogs trust there not going to hold forever.

Very standard if you are rescuing that they will do a home check. As you already have another dog rehoming another needs to be certain by both parties. You need to make sure they both get on. x

Oh and as living in a council house, they as your land lord may well want to check things out also.

I understand the dog trust have to do the checks. I jst didn't have all this when I adopted my lab the council where not bothered they jst signed the paper and handed it over. but if I have to jump through hoops to get her I can do that.

Is not jumping through hoops but the rescue needs to be happy with the new home so the dog is not returned, my Moo had 4 homes before she was settled with me and that was in 10 months. These things take time, good luck and go with it if its what you want x

That does sound odd, we have a housing association property and needed to get permission from them by letter before we could bring Rocky home from the rescue centre. The centre did a home check but not the housing association. Maybe they have changed regulations recently, do you have an up to date copy of your tenancy agreement ? does it mention anything there about re homing a rescue dog ?
