Cold treats on a hot day?
It was 38c here today and by the time I thought to put some watermelon into the freezer for Koda it was a bit late. I wondered what cold/frozen food/treats you give your pups on hot days ? I need some inspiration ! So far we've only managed ice cubes, frozen steak inside the Kong and a slice of cool'ish watermelon today. Thanks in advance

Have you been putting ice-cubes in his water bowl.
Dogs always cool from the bottom up to having cold wet towels for him to rest on can help
I cant really think of anything you can freeze really, that would help him cool down

Re: Cold treats on a hot day?
Some of Ron Dog's favourites...
Dry biscuits in a stock cube with a chew stick and freeze it in a plastic cup, comes out like a lollipop.
Frozen egg - blended first then put in a ice cube tray.
Baby food also put in ice cube trays.
Ronnie loves sardines in his dry food so we are gonna try these frozen when its our summer time.
We have also frozen liver again in a stock cube and tuna in with the egg.

Re: Cold treats on a hot day?
Bane likes frozen carrots and bananas!
Has he got a paddling pool? I've seen so many videos online of dogs with those little plastic kiddy pools/sand pits. Maybe something like that would be fun for him and keep him cool? We are gonna get one for Bane when summer comes around!

So do you mush up banana and freeze it in ice cube trays, and same with peanut butter (separate!) and also minced chicken - or don't I understand (sorry I am SO blonde !!). OMG how did Jed go in the heat last week ?????

Re: Cold treats on a hot day?
Frozen beef stock mixed with dry biscuits in plastic cups, freeze then pop them out of the cups and Ty loves them. Even just a few ice cubes for him to play around with seems to do the trick...when he's not dozing off in front of the air con vents
