Our excursions!
Ah well it was our first 'day release' yesterday, boy 3 1/2 weeks 'in' has taken it's toll mainly on me because i've been having serious ants in my pants and so excited about taking Milo out after the green light following jabs.
We went to a big woodland a few miles away. It was great he was so well behaved and hardly ever pulled on his flexi lead in the hour and a 1/2 we were walking! We met and greeted a few dogs and he was playfull but cool! The piles of logs got alot of woofs and upstanding heckles lol! He got anothe walk in the evening and slept really well
Today he had a morning walk in our local woods, had his micro chip done and then we went to my mum and dad's and made friends with their JRT's (well one of them - the old girl is grumpy so we're stalling that experience!!) he got on brilliantly with their 3 year old JRT and played until they could play no more in the off the lead, it was the much better than our walk in the woods seeing him really play and let loose happy days x

Re: Our excursions!
Great stuff. It's great to watch them enjoying themselves exploring the great outdoors, and making new friends

Re: Our excursions!
Sounds like he was really good and enjoyed himself. Just be careful how much you exercise as he is young and his bones are still developing as are his joints. too much exercise through these important stages of development can lead to problems later in life.
Maximum on-lead exercise -
From 10 wks to four months old..............
twenty minutes on lead once daily, plus romping at free will.
From four months to eight months........ up to an hour daily as long as some free time is interspersed with the on lead.
Eight months to twelve months......A full hour on lead once or twice daily plus romping.
No jumping off high places, no frisbee, or agility until after twelve months of age.

Re: Our excursions!
Hi, thanks for the advice, helpful to others too I expect . The loop we did on the first walk took longer than we remembered, it had been 2 1/2 years! He's only been getting 1 walk a day or 2 shorter ones to make the day more interesting for him. He's doing great re-calls no problem out now too and meeting other dogs with a keen interest and a typical puppy's playfullness so pleased he seems really mature for his age. We're so loving it....him! Oh and he's about 5 months old so not a tiny/young puppy, his jabs were late as he's from rescue.
