humping a sign of imminent season? Empty humping a sign of imminent season?

Helllooooo, a bit of your valuable knowledge please. Thistle 8 months old now (how time flies) she is a lovely dog (has her moments) She has recently taken to 'humping' my cushions, and chewing again, is this pre seasonal behaviour? Also I cannot get her to come to me without the help of food bribes, even if she knows we are going for a walk, she'll seethe lead and run and hide, although when we are out she loves her walks, outside her recall is appalling I won't let her off now unless I know there are no other dogs around, I have tried everything, I think, any advice or do some dogs just take longer than others. Ta very much

If she hasn't had a season she could certainly be coming into it, although mine have never started humping or chewing, this could be down to a teenage phase, just stick with what your doing with her training and it will pay off in the end, have you thought about using a long lead to practice recall?

As Janey says, it could be that she's nearing her first season, although none of mine humped before a season.

It could also be the dreaded teenage years... knows everything, listens to nothing & nobody understands her! Big Grin

A long training line could be useful for a while, just until she's remembered her manners!

Thanks everyone, yes Thistle has had a major teenage phase, she was a nightmare, maybe she's had a rest and is building up for stage 2. I use a long lead.
