Advice on Sudden Food Issues.

Right,

You all know how much of monkey Sky can be , well in the Evening I feed her a couple of small scoops of dry Wainwright, along with half a tin of Wainwright tinned meat. In the morning she has 4 scoops of the same dry Wainwright. I would give her meat in both, but tins are not cheap!

Problem is suddenly Sky decides she doesn't want to eat it without meat. I put it down in the morning she goes towards it and then walks away, she has done this for two days now. I even went and got some Dog Gravy, and she ate it once, then again I'm back to square one. For some reason she eats the dry if it's with meat, but not on its own. I know if I fed her some Bakers/Pedigree crap she would probably eat it, but her coat is so amazing, and I want to keep feeding her this stuff.

Any advice. I asked my friends at work who all said, stop with all the treats, and keep putting it down, if she doesn't eat it after ten minutes take it away. Almost like playing hard ball, however I feel bad doing this. 

As I write this she is crying, and I know it's because she wants some biscuits because she is hungry!!!

Problem is I settled for Wainwright as she seemed fussy with everything else. However Any wet meat, she will destroy :-(. Is it worth me giving her 1/4 of a tin in the morning and evening?

They can be so fussy sometimes! Haha, I don't feed biscuits or wet food, but you can try adding some tinned sardines or a raw egg over the biscuits to make it more appealing.

Also your friends are right, give her a time frame to eat the food, if she doesn't, take it away, I know it is hard to do it! And definitely no pedigree or bakers!!

agree with maria,sash would'nt eat her dry food so half a sardine mixed in and she eats it straight away  

How much meat do you add to the evening meal? Is it like a paste or chunks of meat ? If it's a paste you could try splitting the amount of meat you use between two meals and adding a little warm water to mix it in really well and completely coat the biscuits.. This is what I do in kennels and they love it, especially in winter when it's still a little warm i think it's shooting yourself in the foot a little offering it at one meal and not another, Biscuit won't touch dry even if you put meat in it she eats the meat around it lol!

Also great advice from your friends, don't fuss over her it'll only make it worse I'd ditch the gravy too it's full if salt!

Sardines and eggs are great accompaniments to their kibble, Darcy was like this, re the wet food follow Rachel's advice, a little water and the wet food will last up to 4 meals

Just tried this, and gone within seconds. I think like some of you said, she just does not like dry food on its own. 1/4 of the meat with the breakfast, still seemed quite enough to cover it so worked out ok.

Regarding the raw egg, is it safe to not cook it?

And yes it is very safe, as long as the egg is fresh, many of our members including myself give a raw egg over food!

I'm afraid i'm with your friend, i go for tough love, if they don't eat their tea (yer right) then it gets taken up and they get nothing until the next meal.

Dogs are not fussy WE make them fussy.

I'd do the same as Ella! But there's no harm in breaking an egg over his kibble, or adding a couple of sardines in oil just to make it more interesting!
