...who owns a staffy pup that is crossed with a hoover? all day, every day, in my pups every waking moment, he is constantly searching the floor for things to pick up. He actually prefers to do this than play with toys. As soon as I take my eyes off him he's there, sucking up whatever he can off the floor. My other dogs fur is shedding like mad at the moment so his favourite snack is her fur. It's actually really getting me down because I can't take my eyes off him for even one second without him picking up something I didn't even know was there! It's literally like he sees it as his only purpose for living and all he gets up in a morning for is to search the floor.

Anybody else's puppy like this or just mine?

You're definitely not on your own!

The good news is that it does get better, and if you can teach a good "Leave" command it'll help tremendously!

Pebbles does this too. She leaves wet slobbery marks all over my laminate flooring while searching for bits and crumbs. In the garden she does it too. She has just found my daughter's lip gloss that was lost for a whole week. Laughing

Our six month old doesn't just act like a hoover; she loooooves chewing things. Here is the list so far:
My laptop power cable(I'm still to replace it so now the laptop is not working at all Sad )
Several note books.
The post if she gets to it before me.
A few dolls

That said we have been working on the "leave" command and has made some progress. It is very much still an ongoing learning process

Jax was the worst for this when he was a small puppy... he used to try and eat tiny rocks that got dragged in on people's shoes. As he's gotten older (8 months now), it has improved and he's moved on to mostly edible things. Like others have said too, teaching a good leave it command also helps! I must say, Jax will still ignore me if something is really tempting, but he does stop and think about it, which usually gives me enough time to catch him anyhow... lol.
