Sad I suppose because it's the weekend, people are having Halloween fireworks tonight.

I heard a horrible yelping outside in the street earlier. Looked out the window and saw a woman trying to walk her poor little dog, who was cowering and squealing every time a firework went off. Sad

Trouble is, you get labelled as a spoilsport if you complain about them. Sad

My girls have been ok so far. I don't take them out when they are going off. Cats aren't keen apart from Millie who likes to watch them ( weird cat) biggrin  I've got Lavender oil just incase.

Luckily, Dempsey isn't too bad with fireworks. Our old dog would become a terrified wreck though. Sad

Yes, Bandit just went to pieces. Three & a half stone of muscle with a jaw like iron, and he'd be a quivering wreck as soon as he heard the first firework.

I took Dempsey out at about 5pm, and there were some fireworks going off, but he took no notice, thank god!

Yep, they're in full swing here. I feel so sorry for those animals who are terrified of the things - it'll go on for nights and nights I'm afraid.

The 2 T's would probably prefer them not to be there but they are not distressed by them

Fireworks have been banging and exploding here for about two hours solid.
Honestly don't think there's been even a 20 second gap between sounds in that time.
Neither of my two are bothered by them - they've just been in the back garden to explore where the noise is coming from.
*ing me off though.

Kuchar's OK with them, but this is only his second firework season so I don't want to tempt fate and walk him after dark and risk a big bang close up. My last Dobie was fine too, but my first Dobie was terrified out of her wits (and subsequently by thunder too), so I do feel for those animals who are scared by them.

I just don't want a repeat of a few years ago, when some group of *wits fired their fireworks at the houses.
Ended up in a free-for-all punch-up about 20 metres from my house, lol.
Ended up pulling spent fireworks out of my gutters, off my felted flat-roof, out of the garden, and off the car. angry

I'd say to keep dogs in during firework nights, but it's practically impossible sometimes. It can get dark as early as six o'clock at the moment, so fireworks will last from early evening to well past midnight. With dogs who get three walks per day, there isn't always a practical way to adjust the walking times.

It is difficult isn't it Eleanor. Wouldn't it be great if letting off fireworks was restricted by law to 5th Nov and 31st Dec only. Then we'd all know where we stand and could plan accordingly.

We had a lot of fireworks going off here earlier but seems to have quieten now thankfully. Rocky wasn't quite so bad this time and only barked at a few that were very close by and very loud, the ones off in the distance he didn't bother with. He has got much better since last year praying

I do actually like fireworks but think they should be restricted to nov 5th instead of any time of the year. At best they are a nuisance at worst you have a terrified pet be it dog cat or whatever. Im one of the lucky ones too as mine dont get bothered by them but I have friends who are in bits with worry at this time of year...and then you have the wildlife who have nowhere to go poor things

I really feel for the poor little hedgehogs who get caught up in the bottom of fires when they are being built during the day. I wish people would check them more carefully before they light them Crying or Very sad

Blue is funny. Get a parcel delivered and he will sit there growling at it yet open the back door and he will go in the garden with fireworks going off all over the place (Some at the park across the road) and he just carries on like nothing is happening

It's Diwali this weekend and we heard fireworks going off in the distance last night. Thankfully my two couldn't care less but I know of a few who were suffering Sad Fortunately, i guess, fireworks are illegal in built up areas here so if a neighbour is letting them off you can report them. 5 Nov is usually quiet around here *fingers crossed*
